This past weekend, we went to Longwood Gardens for their Nightscape exhibit! Nightscapes is a sound and light exhibit designed by Klip Collective and has been showcased at Longwood Gardens for the past couple of years. This is our second year going and we had an even better time this year!
Since you get an all day pass when purchasing Nightscapes tickets, we went into the park early. Longwood has been undergoing some major renovations on the main fountain display, but there are still plenty of things to see including their newly acquired meadow and farmhouse.
For dinner I packed us roast beef sandwiches, chips, and salad. And some red wine! We were hoping to heat the sandwiches up on the grill in the picnic area, but it ended up being closed for the off-season. So, we found a blanket in the car and picnicked next to the parking lot under a few trees.
By the time we finished dinner, the sun was starting to set. We headed over to the beer garden for DJ and Kyle to sample some beers. Victory Brewing Company has joined forces with Longwood Gardens to bring a wide array of locally brewed craft beers to the gardens. Victory seasonally creates a beer or two utilizing something grown in the gardens. This fall they brought back the Autumn Harvest made with honey from the bee hives on premise. New this year was the Fruit House Ale made with Longwood grown peaches and nectarines.
Then we walked through the Conservatory and back through the gardens to experience the light and sound exhibits in the dark. It was so fun! There are an assortment of displays spread out all around the park, each section with its own soundtrack. It is truly an immersive and captivating experience. The exhibit ends on October 29th. If you don’t have any plans, definitely go check it out!
DJ and I love Longwood Gardens and can’t wait to head back for Christmas. This December, we have a date planned and dinner reservations at 1906! The restaurant is at the Gardens and is notoriously hard to get reservations for. Christmas at Longwood has been our tradition since we were dating. Though it’s cold, the Gardens are so beautifully decorated. Going is by far my favorite part of the Christmas season.
But for now, we are hoping fall doesn’t slip by too quickly. October is already more than half over! We haven’t even ordered our Halloween costumes yet!
