I’m a few days late, but wanted to share some memories from the holiday that’s just passed. We just wrapped up our third Thanksgiving hosting. It has definitely gotten much easier since our first time hosting. I actually had dinner out 10 minutes earlier than scheduled, and we even had time to grab some family photos!
Thanksgiving isn’t just a one day holiday for our family – since DJ’s birthday is right around the same time, we tend to have more of a multi day celebration. This year, we celebrated his birthday on Wednesday with a southern-style seafood boil. For his birthday cake, DJ requested German chocolate. Next year his birthday is on Thanksgiving day.
On Thursday, we served brunch, appetizers, Thanksgiving dinner and dessert. There wasn’t much room left in our fridge or on our table! It was a great time hanging out with our families and treating them to some delicious food.
My Mom gave me her blue floral Myott dishes to use for the meal, so I set the table with those in mind. I found blue placemats and linen napkins, but it still needed something else. We put sprigs of seeded eucalyptus in the napkins to echo the plates’ floral design.
After brainstorming Thanksgiving traditions, we decided to try out a few of our favorites. My sister and I made a thankful tree and cornucopia to put out. DJ and I also made Thanksgiving themed Mad Libs to have family fill out after the meal. This was definitely our favorite Thanksgiving so far!
Can’t wait for next year! Hope you and your family had an amazing holiday!
